Hear from Penn State experts, connect with fellow alumni, learn a new tip, make a new connection and more. Many events are free or have reduced fees for Alumni Association members.
Learning to Choose News Over Noise: Penn State’s News Literacy Initiative
Today, unreliable information overwhelms our media system and citizens are increasingly avoiding the news. In the spirit of our land-grant mission, Penn State’s News Literacy Initiative aims to help, teaching students and citizens strategies for telling the difference between reliable public interest journalism and the noise that often overwhelms and divides us. This talk will discuss the initiative and provide some takeaways that will help participants tell the difference, giving them reasons and strategies for tuning into news and tuning out the noise.
