Build a News Reading Habit!

News Resources and Tips

Back in Episode 104 of News Over Noise, we learned how the "News finds me" mentality can make us feel better informed than we might actually be. One way to address this is to build a news reading habit-- staking out time each day to get out of social media and read the latest news stories from a traditional news media outlet. Whether it's a newspaper, TV news broadcast, or their websites, doing this will help ensure you are seeing a curated balance of local, national, and international stories, rather than just the outrage-of-the-moment.

Libraries are here to help!

All Pennsylvania residents with a library card can access Gale OneFile News through the Power Library, as well as get a library card online to the Free Library of Philadelphia to access thousands of newspapers through Access World News.

Current Penn State students and staff can also access PressReader, a collection of the most recent issues of thousands of magazines and newspapers from around the world.
